LAKE LUZERNE — Mya Touchette’s 3-pointer in the final minute put Whitehall ahead to stay during a 37-35 girls basketball victory over Hadley-Luzerne on Tuesday.

Touchette, a freshman, came off the bench with just over a minute left in regulation. With the shot clock running down, Zoe Eggleston drove the lane and kicked it back out to Touchette, who hit the trey for a two-point lead.

Whitehall had to defend four in-bounds passed on the other end before getting the ball back. The Railroaders then held on until the final buzzer. Whitehall coach Kathy Putorti said the victory was important, given that the Railroaders have been through some tough seasons lately.

“It really gives us a boost,” she said. “Our big goal is to play to win the game, not just come close. They need to get over that hump of knowing they’re talented enough to win games.”

Hailey Taylor led Whitehall with 12 points and Jess Moore added 10, plus some key rebounds. For Hadley-Luzerne, Kassidy Plummer scored 15 points and Caitlyn Fuss recorded 10 more.
