ELMIRA — The Glens Falls Dragons had a big fifth inning. They scored four runs to take a three-run lead over Elmira on Sunday. But the Pioneers responded and the Dragons didn’t score again.
Elmira scored at least two runs in each of their final four innings on their way to a 13-6 win over the Dragons, who now fall to 0-22 on the road.
Queensbury graduate Brett Rodriguez led the Pioneers with four runs. The lead-off batter, he scored Elmira’s first run on Marshall Gilbert’s double in the first inning.
Rodriguez also scored as part of the three-run fifth that gave Elmira the lead and added two more in the sixth and seventh innings.
In all, Rodriguez was two for three on the night, walking three times and striking out once.
The Dragons have three road games left to try to earn their first win.
