Sightings

I am continually amazed by the array of predators right near the house. A trail camera I leave out just for the heck of it caught this pair of coyotes several nights in a row. The dark-colored one is the female and she is quite pregnant. She is lying down (in back).

In this sequence of shots, she just flopped down and went to sleep. The male dutifully stood by until she awoke. Then, shortly after they left, a gray fox came in and curled up to sleep on the nice warm spot where the coyote had been. The fox must have been watching to move in so quickly. In many cases, the best thing to forage is simply a few calories of heat.
