ESTERO, Fla. — The Adirondack Thunder rode the hot play of John Edwardh and the increasingly confident Evan Cormier Friday to an important victory.

Edwardh had a goal and two assists, while Cormier stopped 26 of 27 shots in the Thunder’s 3-1 win over ECHL-leading Florida.

Edwardh now has an eight-game point streak. He started things by having the first assist to Brian Ward at 18:27 of the first period for a power-play goal.

After Florida’s Stathis Soumeldis — who played eight games with Adirondack last season — tied it at 1 early in the second period, the Thunder struck twice more about four minutes apart in the period.

Ward picked up his 10th goal of the season, another power-play effort, with assists to Matt Salhany and Edwardh. Finally, Edwardh notched his 17th of the season with assists to Salhany and Conor Riley.

Adirondack finished 2 for 3 on the power play and forced Florida into a 0-for-5 night on its power play.

It was Cormier’s first win in five games with the Thunder this season.
