NORFOLK, Va. — Shane Conacher and Brian Ward each contributed a goal and an assist as the Adirondack Thunder bounced back from Friday night’s loss with a 4-2 win over Norfolk on Saturday night.
Ward set up Terrence Wallin for a goal just 56 seconds into the game. Ward scored less than three minutes later for his 18th goal of the season with Conacher picking up the assist.
Dylan Olsen scored the only goal of the second period, giving the Thunder a 3-1 lead to start the third period.
Norfolk came within one early in the third period when Christian Horn scored off an assist from T.J. Melancon. But Conacher netted his 10th goal of the year into the empty net, putting the game out of reach with under a minute to play.
Tomas Sholl picked up the win in goal, stopping 28 of 30 shots. The Thunder moved up to second place in the ECHL’s North Division, two points behind Manchester.
Earlier on Saturday, the Thunder got defenseman Desmond Bergin back from the Hartford Wolf Pack of the AHL and placed Stephen Johnson on reserve.
