The search for the next Adirondack Thunder head coach continues.
Jeff Mead, the general manager for the ECHL team and Cool Insuring Arena, said that several people have been interviewed and that it will continue until he feels he’s found the right person.
Mead also said that Alex Loh, the assistant coach the last two years under Cail McLean and Brad Tapper, respectively, is a candidate. Loh already has a contract for the upcoming season. Mead didn’t name any other candidates.
Mead has had to concurrently interview head coaching candidates and try to sign players.
“Some players want to know who the head coach will be, but Pete MacArthur signed, as did Daniel Perigo, so we’re still moving forward,” Mead said.
In the three years of the Thunder’s existence, MacLean had a regular-season record of 79-48-0-17 in two seasons, while Tapper had a regular-season mark of 41-24-0-7. MacLean guided the team into the playoffs both years, going two rounds in 2016 and one in 2017. Tapper led the Thunder into the conference finals this past season.
