CORINTH — Corinth wrestlers went 4 for 8 in the finals of their own Marty Sherman Invitational on Saturday, as the Tomahawks nosed out South Glens Falls for the team title by two points.
Corinth eighth-grader Devlin Blanchard remained undefeated on the season by pinning Fonda-Johnstown's Dylan Cotter for the 99-pound title. Also winning for the Tomahawks were Alec Richards (138), Conor Eversole (152) and Nate Warrington (182) — all defeated South High wrestlers in the finals. Richards won by a 5-1 decision over Ethan Weller, while Eversole and Warrington won by fall.
Warrington, who picked up his 100th career win in the finals, was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Senior. Justin Kearns (113) of Fonda-Johnstown was named Most Outstanding Wrestler.
Placing second for Corinth were John Freebern (113), Sam Tromblee (145), Ray Procter (170) and Isaiah Kanar (285), and Cameron Barger (285) placed third.
South High had winners in Connor Melton (120), Vincent Santilli (126), Isaiah Cuva (160) and Aiden Mickel (220). Cuva edged Rensselaer's Angel Garcia 10-9 in the finals, Mickel won 4-0 over Fonda-Johnstown's Luke Ahrens, Melton won by fall over Hudson Falls' Jack Repsis and Santilli defeated Fonda-Johnstown's Jonathan Cranker 13-3.
Finishing second for the Bulldogs were Weller, Keenan Washburn (152) and Brian Hockford (182), while Nick Casolo (145) took third.
Hudson Falls finished fourth with 133 team points, with 106-pounder Chris Petteys beating Fonda-Johnstown's Owen Hicks 8-1 for the Tigers' only individual title. Repsis and Aiden Pollock (195) finished second for Hudson Falls, while taking third were Cody Lewis (106), Seamus Paige (113) and Eamon Foster (182).
Queensbury took fifth, getting third-place finishes from Robert Rathbun (120), Sean Seeley (126), Kyle Miller (132), Dylan Schell (160) and Shawn Stimpson (170).
Glens Falls' Kaleb Dingmon took third at 220, and Jacob Francato (113) was fourth for the Indians.
