SARANAC — Seven Warrensburg wrestlers won weight-class titles Saturday and five more took second as the Burghers rolled to the championship of the Nate Wood Memorial Tournament at Saranac High School.
Finishing first were Tanner McKenna (99 pounds), Dylan Winchell (106), Zack Davis (138), Nolan McNeill (182), Chris Wilson (195), Jack Binder (220) and Gary Hill (285). Taking second were Zach Carpenter (120), Trevor Winchell (132), Hunter McKenna (145), Chris Simpson (160) and Dan Monthony (170). Placing third were Jacob Johnson (195), Jacob Clear (220) and Donald Carpenter (285).
Warrensburg finished first with 428 team points. Host Saranac was second with 392.
Jones wins title
ROTTERDAM — Schuylerville’s Xavier Jones and Saratoga Springs’ Jordan Sartin and Eric Griskowitz won titles Saturday at the Mohonasen Invitational.
Jones captured the 138-pound title for the seventh-place Black Horses, who also had a runner-up in Thomas Donovan (285). Jeremy Brownell (182) took third.
Saratoga finished second behind Mohonasen, 158-132, led by winners Sartin (120) and Griskowitz (126). Taking second for the Blue Streaks were Antonio Encarnacion (99), Zeph Watkins (113), Ryan DiGiuseppe (160) and Devin Crowe (170).
Turcie leads S-C
DELMAR — Seth Turcie led Salem-Cambridge wrestlers with an 8-0 record at 170 period in the Bethlehem Round Robin Tournament, which wrapped up Sunday at Bethlehem High School.
Zac Cummings (120) went 5-1 to take third on criteria — Cummings beat the champion, but lost to the second-place finisher.
Freshman Charlie Dill (99) and sophomore Jacob Lisowski (113) each only lost one match to take second. David McFarland (160) won five matches and Jamie Olvera (152) won two matches as both earned fourth place.
