SECTION II CLASS AA CHAMPIONSHIP

Saratoga Springs (7-2) vs. Shaker (9-0)

at University at Albany, 7:30 p.m.

Saratoga: The Blue Streaks are back in the Section II championship after losing to Troy 28-6 last year. They stunned Shenendehowa 34-26 last week — one week after losing to the Plainsmen 35-7 in the regular-season finale. Chris Klimek and Will Bonacio returned interceptions for touchdowns, and Carter Steingraber scored twice, including an 85-yard kickoff return, to spark No. 23-ranked Saratoga. Quarterback Jake Williams passed for 189 yards and two TDs in the victory.

Shaker: The Blue Bison, who last won a Section II title in 2012, already own a 48-28 regular-season victory over Saratoga on Sept. 14. Shaker overcame the loss of top rusher Jovani Wiggs to a knee injury in Week 4. The Bison are led by running backs Ravion Burt and Logan Souza, with Connor McHugh an effective QB. Ranked ninth in the state, the Bison are coming off a 27-15 victory over Guilderland in last week’s semifinals.

Fast fact: This is a rematch of their 2015 Section II championship game, won by Saratoga, 19-14. Shaker's only sectional title came in 2012, with a 14-0 victory over Shenendehowa.
