SYRACUSE — Glens Falls senior Joseph Girard III has been invited to compete in the American Family Insurance High School Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships in Minneapolis on April 5, at the NCAA Men's Basketball Final Four.
Girard, who is heading to Syracuse University this fall, will compete in the 3-point contest against seven other top national recruits. Among the contestants is Khalif Battle, the younger brother of Syracuse junior Tyus Battle, who is headed to Butler University.
Girard led Glens Falls to the state and Federation championships in a 29-1 season. He finished his five-year varsity career as New York state's all-time leading scorer with 4,763 points.
Girard's future Syracuse teammate Brycen Goodine, a 6-foot-4 guard from St. Andrews School in New Bedford, Massachusetts, is competing in the dunk contest.
The contests will air on CBS on April 7 at 3:30 p.m.
