GLENS FALLS — The Glens Falls Dragons split a PGCBL doubleheader Friday with the East Division-leading Amsterdam Mohawks at East Field.
In the first game, Brandon Budlong and Heriberto Casasola combined on a four-hitter to help the Dragons secure a 2-1 victory.
Glens Falls (13-27) scored both of its runs in the sixth inning. Dalton Ney scored on an error to tie the score at 1-1, and Anthony Vaglica drew a bases-loaded walk to plate Jared Drizin with the go-ahead run.
Budlong scattered four hits with four strikeouts, and Casasola pitched a hitless seventh to pick up his second save of the season.
In the second game, Glens Falls dropped a 6-5 loss to the Mohawks (29-11), in which Amsterdam took the lead for good in the fifth on Jake Mueller’s RBI double.
The Dragons had taken a 3-2 lead in the second on RBI hits from Anthony Butler, Brian Uliana and Phoenix Hernandez. Trailing 5-3 in the fourth, the Dragons pulled into a tie as Cullen Cicotte scored on an error and Ney scored on a sac fly by Hernandez.
Glens Falls faces Mohawk Valley in another doubleheader on Saturday, beginning at 5 p.m. at East Field.
