A 2-year-old gray son of Tapit bred by Chester and Mary Broman at their Chestertown farm was sold for $2 million at the OBS March Sale on Tuesday. It was a sale record.
It was also a record for a New York-bred 2-year-old at a sale. The previous record was $1 million.
The colt is the first foal out of stellar Broman homebred Artemis Argotera. She won the Grade I Frizette and Grade I Ballerina.
The partnership that bought the colt consists of West Point Thoroughbreds, Rob Masiello and Siena Farm. The Bromans also will retain a one-third interest in the colt, who will be trained by Hall of Famer Steve Asmussen.
