UTICA -- Utica is the hurdle the Adirondack Flames just cannot seem to clear. The Flames’ winning streak is over, finished at nine games, after a 2-1 loss to Utica on Friday.
The Comets have come out on top in each of the teams’ three meetings this season, and the two in the preseason.
Wednesday’s 3-2 win over Toronto was the weakest of the Flames’ streak, the first time Adirondack didn’t lead after the first period. The Flames needed a third-period comeback to pull off their ninth win in a row and couldn’t repeat the feat for a 10th. They hit the post three times in the third period trying to tie the score.
