Don’t let Elise Stefanik’s smiling cherub face, Photoshopped over sunny Whiteface Mountain, fool you. Our congressional representative is a bully.
She has accepted hundreds of thousands of dollars from big pharma, guns and oil and wealthy out-of-staters. Yet, she accuses Tedra Cobb of a “flagrant campaign finance violation.” The grievous wrong? Not reporting to the Federal Election Commission that friends loaned her the use of their RVs on the campaign trail, so she wouldn’t have to camp out in the autumn cold. Was Tedra also given crusts of bread that weren’t accurately and transparently reported to the FEC?

A loaner RV! This was a practical loan for warmth and shelter, while Tedra Cobb campaigned in the vast district in which she and her family actually live. This was not a monetary campaign contribution in exchange for votes, as is Ms. Stefanik’s standard congressional practice. In stark ethical contrast, Tedra Cobb does not accept corporate or PAC money. She will not be owned!
You must be very afraid, Ms. Stefanik, shivering in your $1,300,000 Washington, D.C. starter townhouse: the whining bluster of a frightened bully and her minions.
