Residents of Schuylerville, I am concerned about the indifference that seems to exist in our village. Lack of participants at village meetings, no input of desires or complaints of real problems, allows any official at any level to no longer be an elected representative (for lack of a better term) but self-appointed dictators. Complaining on social media is not a way to participate!

Many things are happening in our little village, some good some bad, but until you become an active, vocal participant, you won't know what these changes are. I understand that resolutions are going to be added and perhaps some subtracted. The question is, will these changes be advantageous to residents, or will it be an easier way for officials to enact changes "they feel" are needed?

Somehow we need to establish a more open government in our village; things such as paper trails of purchased or sold items and how and why these transactions take place. A full inventory of any village owned property needs to be done and each piece assigned a property number and a location and paperwork done if an item is moved from one location to another. These and other concerns need to be brought to the forefront and publicly addressed. Please be aware that these problems and others are not new; they have existed in other administrations and are still flourishing. This needs to come to an end.

Residents, take back your village! Begin by attending meetings. The next meeting is Wednesday, March 14! Let's fill up those seats and make "our" representatives know we care!
