Imagine for a moment that 80 years ago the government found that coffee is related to other amphetamines and passed a law saying your morning pick-me-up was illegal. In 24/7 go-getter America? Never happen.
When prohibition proved that if hard-working people find something that helps them relax at the end of the day that nothing and no one could keep them from it, we didn’t learn. A misguided law saying marijuana is as bad as heroin was passed. This created job security for law enforcement, needless taxes and ruined lives. One of your readers asked where did we go wrong? Listening to people who get their information from Cheech and Chong movies and then drag out the same old specious arguments. You don’t wait to be told that all the traffic lights will be green, there won’t be any detours and your car won’t break down before you start a trip. With colleagues offering degree programs in cannabis cultivation, it’s time to end the madness of antiquated marijuana laws that do more harm than private adult consumption.
