Bea Evans will be sorely missed

Editor:

It’s raining today or are they tears for the passing of a great lady? Today we got the news that Bea Evans has passed away at the young age of 94. Bea has more friends and people who admired her than anyone I’ve ever known. She devoted herself to making the town of Lake Luzerne a friendly and beautiful place, and anyone who really knew her called her the First Lady of Lake Luzerne. At the time when most people would be taking it easy, you could see Bea taking care of the flowers in the cemetery, and until a few years ago, the town’s flowers, too. She retired a few years ago as being the town’s historian, and if you wanted to know anything about the town, all you had to do was ask Bea. I never met anyone who knew so much about a town. She was also a great member of the Hadley-Luzerne Lions club.

Once in a great while you meet a truly unique person who never had a bad word to say about anyone, who loved to serve the community, and we just lost one.Mark McLain, Lake Luzerne
