Boos to the Glens Falls weekly newspaper for accusing a Post-Star reporter of printing incorrect information. The Post-Star story detailed how a group of constituents had reserved the Moreau Community Center so there would be more time for Rep. Elise Stefanik’s town hall meeting. The owner/editor of the weekly newspaper wrote, “Ms. Stefanik told me the claim (that more time was scheduled by constituents) was bogus,” and then the editor/owner added, “It just neatly fit The Post-Star agenda.” The Post-Star editors confirmed with a Queensbury constituent, Sara Carpenter, that she set aside the extra time with the Moreau Community Center. She said she also informed the weekly newspaper’s editor/owner. We found this attack on the reputation of a Post-Star reporter to be malicious and without merit. Since the owner/editor of the weekly was hand-picked by the congresswoman to moderate the town hall, it calls into question the owner/editor’s ethics.
