GLENS FALLS -- After four years in the CVS Plaza on Broad Street, Motivations Fitness Center has moved to the heart of downtown to the former Godnick's building at 221 Glen Street.
It opened downtown on Jan. 4 and soon after had 15 new members on top of the 30 or so that followed from the old location, according to Shireen Gazzillo-Sluck, a personal trainer and group instructor at the gym.
"The response has been wonderful. We can't keep up with all the new people," Gazillo-Sluck said.
She said the move has made the business more visible, even if it isn't in the front of the building.
"In the CVS plaza people didn't see us and the space was about one-fourth of what we have now. We were constantly moving spinning machines to do aerobics."
Motivations is capitalizing on the business professionals that work downtown by offering "Lunchtime Quickspin," a 30-minute spinning class that accommodates people with a tight schedule.
"You can come in, get a workout, take a shower and go back to work. No one's really heard about it yet," she said.
There will be an open house at Motivations Fitness Center on Friday, Feb. 12 from 3:30 to 8 p.m. A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held at 3:30 p.m. followed by drinks, hors d' oeuvres and tours. Guests can enter drawings to win personal training sessions, a month of unlimited aerobic classes, and five tanning sessions. Guests will all receive a voucher for a free trial class for attending the open house.
Memberships are discounted 15 percent for the remainder of February. They include personal training and aerobics.
