I am writing this letter in support of Mike Derrick for Congress. I first met Mike in October at an event where he was speaking. Our meeting was brief with mere pleasantries, but as I listened to him describe his extensive military experience as a leader and commander and his educational experience as a teacher at West Point, I couldn’t help but think, “This man was made to lead the 21st District.”
Since that time, I have had the pleasure of meeting and speaking with Mike several times. Mike doesn’t just hear you, he actually listens to you. He wants to know your concerns and thoughts on the issues important to you. He also has a firm grasp of the issues that face our communities in the 21st District, including employment and health care, as well as those issues unique and exclusive to living and working in the Adirondack Park.
A truly dedicated servant to his country and now the North Country, Mike Derrick possesses the experience and qualities for what it takes to lead, defend, advise and advocate for the North Country. Mike’s worldly experiences, along with his life-long ties to the district, passion about the issues that affect us here, make him the clear choice for having our voice heard in Washington and making sure we strive and grow with the rest of New York state.

In a recent article about Mike and his family, Mike said, “We’ve gotten away from people who lead for reasons other than their own advancement, power and influence.” That is so true and that needs to change. We can change that in the 21st District by voting for Mike Derrick. That is why I am voting for him in November, and I encourage you to do the same.
