Quaker road snow crash

Warren County sheriff's officers work to get a car out of a snowbank on Quaker Road in Queensbury during Jan. 29's snowstorm.

A winter storm watch has been issued as what could be a big snowstorm bears down on the region, one of two sizable storms likely this week.

The storm watch is in effect from 1 p.m. Tuesday to 4 p.m. Wednesday, with meteorologists expecting more than a foot of snow in parts of the region by the storm moves out of the region.

The bulk of the snow is expected to end by Wednesday morning, and it could mix with sleet or freezing rain as temperatures rise during the storm.

The second storm of the week is likely Friday and Saturday, but warmer temperatures may result in much of the precipitation falling as rain.
