WHITEHALL — A Whitehall man was taken to Glens Falls Hospital's Behavorial Health Unit after a standoff Sunday night that occurred when he threatened to harm himself with a gun.

The 52-year-old man, whose name was not released, had a pellet gun in a vehicle with him at the intersection of East Bay Road and county Route 10, just south of the Vermont state line, when police were called about 5:30 p.m.

Police were able to take him into custody without injuries, and the Washington County Sheriff's Office said he did not threaten anyone with the gun so no criminal charges were filed.

The man has a pending criminal case in Washington County Court for a standoff that occurred last July when he allegedly threatened a family member with a gun. He was free on bail in that case.

State Police, Whitehall Police and Vermont State Police assisted with the case.
