CORINTH — Two people died late Wednesday afternoon in a single-car crash on Angel Road, according to the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office.
The two people were identified by police as Genessa Marie Coon, 23, of Corinth, and Cody M. Fitzpatrick, 21, of Whitehall, according to a press release from the Saratoga County Sherrif's Office.
Sheriff Michael Zurlo said the car they were in went off the road and hit a tree near Woodcrest Acres Road.
Both Coon and Fitzpatrick were found dead at the scene. According to the press release, both were found trapped inside the car, appeared to have been severely injured and were determined to have succumbed to their injuries.
The Sheriff’s Office’s investigation division and accident reconstruction personnel were at the scene to try to determine how the crash occurred, Zurlo said.
“We don’t know yet what caused it, but we are going to try to get some more information out tonight,” the sheriff said.
Part of Angel Road was closed as of 5:30 p.m. as police and emergency responders worked at the scene.
The road is a rural route that is south of the village of Corinth.
