Two Glens Falls men have pleaded guilty to federal felony charges after one sold a shotgun to the other, knowing that the purchaser was a felon who could not own a firearm.
David H. Carlton, 47, pleaded guilty Wednesday in U.S. District Court to selling a gun to a felon for the sale of a Mossberg pistol grip shotgun to George M. Allen, 38, in the spring of 2016.
Both men were arrested in 2016, after Allen was pulled over by State Police in Queensbury and found to have the loaded gun. Police determined he had two felony convictions and could not own the weapon.
Court records show Allen told police he wanted the gun for his wife to protect herself.
Allen pleaded guilty last summer to a federal felony of being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Court records show that Carlton likely faces 21 months in federal prison when he is sentenced April 3. Allen is also scheduled to be sentenced on April 3, and faces a likely sentence of 6.5 years.
