FORT EDWARD — Two people face felony charges on welfare fraud accusations in Washington County, police said.
Stephen T. Bain, 46, of Lydius Street, Fort Edward, was accused of providing false information to the Washington County Department of Social Services to get $4,938 in public assistance to which he wasn't entitled, according to the Washington County Sheriff's Office.
Angelica M. Hillis, 33, of Hudson Falls, was accused of providing false information to the Washington County Department of Social Services to get $1,537 in public assistance to which she wasn't entitled, police said.
Both were charged with felony counts of grand larceny, offering a false instrument for filing and welfare fraud, according to the Sheriff's Office. They were released pending prosecution in Fort Edward Town Court.
Sheriff's Investigator Greg Danio made the arrest, assisted by the Department of Social Services.
