KINGSBURY — Three people were arrested Saturday afternoon after a traffic stop on Burgoyne Avenue led to the seizure of illegal weapons and drugs, police said.

State Police stopped a vehicle near the intersection with Route 4 for unspecified traffic violations, and a search led to the seizure of nearly 2 pounds of marijuana, concentrated cannabis and cannabis oil as well as an illegal switchblade knife, billy club and metal knuckles, authorities said.

Charged with a felony count of criminal possession of marijuana and misdemeanor counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal possession of a weapon were Christopher L. Beagle, 36, of Winooski, Vermont, and Makayla L. Merchant, 21, of Burlington, Vermont, according to State Police.

A third person in the vehicle, Matthew A. Picard, 35, of Burlington, Vermont, was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, a non-criminal violation, records show.

Beagle was arraigned and sent to Washington County Jail, while Merchant and Picard were released pending prosecution in Kingsbury Town Court.

Troopers from the Greenwich station made the arrests.
