Police have arrested two Saratoga County men who they believe were responsible for a robbery at the Dollar General store in Schuylerville earlier this month and may have been involved in two other robberies in the days that followed.
Christopher Hutchins, 25, of Porter Corners, was charged with first-degree robbery in connection with the April 6 holdup at the store on Route 29, in which a man told a clerk he had a gun and made off with cash. No weapon was displayed.
Also charged was Daniel Deming, 30, of Corinth, who faces a felony count of conspiracy for allegedly assisting Hutchins, police said.
The Saratoga County Sheriff's Office said the two may also have been involved in an April 7 robbery at the Sunoco in Mechanicville and another Friday night at the Mobil store in Stillwater. They were arrested after Mechanicville Police spotted a vehicle matching a description of one believed to have been used in the Stillwater case, and the occupants were linked to the Schuylerville holdup.
Both men were arraigned and sent to Saratoga County Jail.
The investigation was continuing, and more charges were expected for the Mechanicville and Stillwater thefts.
