Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-Schuylerville, voted on Tuesday to override the veto of President Donald Trump and end the national emergency he declared to build a border wall.
The vote needed two-thirds to pass, and fell short at 248 for to 181 against. Stefanik was one of 14 Republicans to vote to override the veto.

Commenting on her initial vote to end the national emergency, Stefanik said it was the wrong approach.
“I remain committed to keeping the government open and securing the border and I support the bipartisan appropriations package,” she said, according to a statement sent to the Times at the time. “However, I believe that declaring a national emergency is the wrong decision and will be challenged in the courts.”
