SALEM — School district voters approved a $13.33 million budget by a vote of 290 to 77.
The spending plan is an increase of $473,000, or 3.68 percent, over the current year.
The tax levy will increase by 1.75 percent to $5.114 million. The district’s maximum tax cap was 2.25 percent.
Funding for a school security officer was the only new item in the budget. Voters also approved the $21,019 budget for the Bancroft Public Library by a vote of 324 to 41.
Heidi Kirchner and Jaclyn Nolan won the two three-year seats on the Board of Education. Kirchner defeated incumbent Elaine Davis by a vote of 217 to 138. Nolan defeated Naomi Jarvis by a vote of 276 to 74.
Results were not immediately available Tuesday night.
