The state Department of Transportation announced the start of paving Monday on state Route 50 in the towns of Wilton and Northumberland.

According to a news release, a 7.8 mile stretch will be paved between Perry Road and Route 32 and is expected to be completed by Aug. 20.

Work will reduce traffic to single alternating lane by flaggers between 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The project is part of a multi-site $7.5 million project in Saratoga, Rensselear and Albany counties.
