A Fort Edward woman was jailed early Saturday after a car chase that began in Hudson Falls and ended in the parking lot of Washington County Municipal Center, police said.
Chelsey Allen, 36, was charged with misdemeanor driving while intoxicated, felony aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and numerous traffic charges after the pursuit that began around 5:20 a.m., according to Hudson Falls Police.
Authorities said Hudson Falls Police Sgt. Ryan Woodward tried to pull a vehicle over when spotting it being driven erratically and driving out of its lane on Main Street. The vehicle sped off, but stopped moments later on Main.
When Woodward got out of the car to talk to the driver, she drove off again, heading south into the parking lot of the Municipal Center, where Woodward was able to box it in as the driver tried to make her way back out to the street, police said.
Allen was found to be driving with a license that had revoked for a prior alcohol-related arrest and suspensions, and she failed field sobriety tests but refused to take a breath test. She was also found to have an open container of alcohol in the car.
Allen was arraigned and sent to Washington County Jail for lack of bail.
