ARGYLE — An Argyle High School student was charged with a felony Wednesday night after she made comments about a desire to shoot people at her school, authorities said.

The 16-year-old, whose name was not released because of her age, was overheard on a school bus after school making statements to a friend that "she should shoot the school up." The bus hadn't left school yet for its afternoon run, so a school official was notified and school personnel accompanied the bus to the girl's home, and State Police were contacted.

Troopers determined she had no access to weapons and there was no evidence of a plan to follow through on the threat. But she was charged with making a terroristic threat, a felony, for the comments.

The girl's name was not released because of her age. She was released to a parent late Wednesday and was scheduled to be arraigned in Washington County Court's Youth Part on Thursday afternoon.
