SCHROON — At least one person was killed Sunday in a crash on the Northway near Exit 27, police said.
State Police released few details about the crash, which happened shortly before noon in the northbound lanes near the Charlie Hill Road overpass.
While fleeing state troopers, a man suspected of armed robbery crossed the median of Interstate 87 and died in a head-on collision Sunday.
State Police were investigating whether one of the drivers involved in the crash had also been involved in an earlier theft complaint in the Schroon area and may have been driving the wrong way in the northbound lanes, authorities said.
The Northway was closed for nearly 7 hours, reopening after 6 p.m. Troopers at the Schroon and Ray Brook stations would not release additional information on Sunday.
More details will be posted when they become available.
