LAKE GEORGE — A Lake George peace officer was hurt and a second officer struck in the face one night last week after they tried to break up an argument between a Hadley couple in Shepard Park, police said.
The Hadley couple that the officers confronted were both arrested, with one of them charged with felony assault for allegedly injuring Peace Officer Tanner LaFarr.
Another peace officer, Sean D’Anniable, was hit in the face but not hurt.
The Warren County Sheriff’s Office said Tanya M. Chowske, 37, of Hadley, was charged with second-degree assault as well as a misdemeanor count of resisting arrest and non-criminal harassment. She is accused of injuring LaFarr.
Her husband, Michael J. Chowske Jr., 39, was charged with misdemeanor counts of obstructing governmental administration, resisting arrest, non-criminal harassment and disorderly conduct. He allegedly elbowed D’Anniable, but no injuries were reported.
The incident happened just before midnight on July 5.
Police did not disclose the extent of the injuries suffered by LaFarr, but said he was hurt as he tried to take Mrs. Chowske into custody.
Both defendants were arraigned and sent to Warren County Jail for lack of bail, but both had been released as of Tuesday morning.
The village hires a contingent of peace officers each summer to help sheriff’s officers and State Police during the busy season.
