WARRENSBURG — One person was killed and another seriously injured in a pickup truck crash in Warrensburg on Route 9 early Friday and a portion of the road remained closed as of Friday afternoon, authorities said.

The crash happened around 5:20 a.m. when a truck veered off Route 9 near Tripp Lake Road and hit a rock ledge, according to the Warren County Sheriff's Office. The truck was headed south when it crossed the northbound lane and hit the ledge off the eastern side of the road.

The driver of the 2012 Ford F-550 was pronounced dead at the scene, while a passenger was taken to Albany Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

The victims were from outside the area, and the Sheriff's Office was working to notify the victims relatives later Friday. More details were to be released later in the day.

The Sheriff's Office is being assisted by the state Department of Environmental Conservation, and the Warrensburg Fire Department and rescue squads from Warrensburg and North Warren assisted at the scene.
