HUDSON FALLS — A Hudson Falls man was arrested late Friday on charges that accuse him of trying to arrange a sexual encounter with a person he thought to be a 12-year-old girl, police said.

Jeffrey S. Prime, 27, was charged with felony counts of attempted first-degree rape and attempted first-degree criminal sexual act after an investigation by State Police, the agency said in a news release.

Police said the charges came after the State Police Computer Crimes Unit corresponded with Prime and he made arrangements to meet a person he thought was a 12-year-old girl for sex.

Prime was taken into custody by troopers from the Granville station without incident Friday night at the location where the meeting was to take police, according to State Police.

Prime was arraigned and sent to Washington County Jail for lack of bail.
