Autopsy on remains is postponed
LAKE GEORGE — An autopsy that was planned for Monday on human remains found in woods of Lake George late last week has been postponed until Tuesday.
Human bones were found Friday afternoon in woods between the Northway and Parrotts Pond Way, just west of the Lake George High School football field. A resident of the area found clothes and bones when walking there.
State Police said there was no new information as to the identity of the person whose remains were found, but they believe the bones are those of a New York City man who was reported missing in New York City in May 2012. The man’s identification was found near the bones.
Police said there were no initial indications that he had been a victim of a crime, and there was evidence of drug use among the belongings found near the remains.
More details will be posted when they become available.
Teen hit by truck is still in hospital
QUEENSBURY — The 14-year-old girl who was hit by a truck early Saturday remained in Albany Medical Center on Monday, and police said her condition was stable but serious.
The teen, whose name was not released, was hit by a delivery truck around 4 a.m. as she was crossing Quaker Road. Police said she was from Lake George but was staying at a relative’s home in Queensbury.
The police investigation as to what the girls were doing was ongoing Monday, sheriff’s Lt. Steve Stockdale said. They had apparently been with friends shortly before the collision.
The driver of the truck was not hurt.
