Carpenter is grad of Emporia State

EMPORIA, Kan. — Tyler Carpenter of Fort Edward was one of nearly 1,100 students who graduated from Emporia State University in May. Carpenter will graduate with a Master of Science degree in instructional specialist with a concentration in reading specialist/pre-K-12.

Students present at conference

ONEONTA — More than 200 SUNY Oneonta students were selected to present at the 2018 SUNY Undergraduate Research Conference, hosted by SUNY Oneonta on April 20. Students from 28 SUNY colleges and universities presented 179 research projects in two poster sessions, and another 100 projects in oral presentations throughout the day.

Local students include:

  • Katherine Buher of Queensbury, a business economics major, presented a poster titled, “Governance Effect on Economic Growth;”
  • Sarah Gibney of Cambridge, a psychology and anthropology major, presented a poster titled, “A Qualitative Analysis of Gender Differences in Negotiation;”
  • Gwyneth Quagliana of Chestertown, a mass communications major, gave a creative activity presentation titled, “Slam Poetry as Performance Art;” and
  • Emily Tarantino of South Glens Falls, a dietetics major, presented a poster titled, “Whey Protein as a Gluten Substitute in Donuts.”

SUNY Potsdam students graduate

POTSDAM — The State University of New York at Potsdam recognized nearly 900 candidates for graduation during the college’s 2018 Commencement Ceremony May 19. The SUNY Potsdam Class of 2018 will be awarded baccalaureate and master’s degrees at the ceremony.
