Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced on Thursday that Moreau Lake State Park is gaining 131 additional acres.
The Democratic governor's office said the new parcel will expand Moreau Lake State Park's trail network and provide access to scenic views. According to a news release, the new parcel includes summits, including Palmertown Mountain, with views of the Hudson Valley and southern Adirondacks — and brings the park's total acreage to 6,100.

The state Office of Parks Recreation and Historic Preservation said it plans to create a new trailhead to provide access to the new land parcel.
Moreau Lake State Park was only 700 acres large when it was first established in 1968, and has grown substantially since then.
