CHESTER — A downstate man was charged with boating while intoxicated Saturday night after two boats collided on Loon Lake, police said.
Philip Rinaldi, 28, of Long Island, was charged in connection with a 9:45 p.m. crash that resulted in no injuries.
But the Warren County Sheriff's Office said passengers on one of the boats were "uncooperative," so officers did not know whether anyone was unaccounted for. That led to the Warren County Marine Rescue Team and a MedFlight helicopter being called to the scene, but police eventually determined everyone was safe.
Rinaldi was found to be intoxicated, which led to a misdemeanor BWI count, police said. He was released, pending prosecution in Chester Town Court.
Chester firefighters and the county Marine Rescue Team assisted at the scene.
