Lehigh Cement Company’s public informational meeting about its proposed air permit changes has been rescheduled to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27 at The Queensbury Hotel.
The meeting was to be held 6 p.m. Tuesday, but John Brodt, vice president of Behan Communications and spokesman for Lehigh, said Tuesday morning that due to the worsening forecast, it would be postponed.
The meeting intends to educate the public and answer questions about the company’s proposal to use a paper and plastic mixture called raggertail as an alternative fuel source.
The state Department of Environmental Conservation is in charge of approving the permit.

The public comment period was extended to Feb. 25, according to the agency, “to allow comments to be provided to NYS DEC following the proposed public information meeting to be held by Lehigh.”
DEC said Tuesday afternoon that it plans to extend the comment period again, until after the cement company holds its public information meeting. The date is yet to be determined, but it will be posted on the DEC’s Environmental Notice Bulletin.
In the meantime, written comments may be submitted to Beth Magee, NYS DEC Region 5 Office, Division of Environmental Permits, 232 Golf Course Road, Warrensburg, NY 12885; or emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org.
