Adirondack Christkindlmarkt

J.P. Henderson emcees the inaugural Adirondack Christkindlmarkt holiday market festival in December in Lake George. The Lake George Regional Chamber of Commerce and Convention Visitors Bureau has been awarded $18,000 for a second annual Adirondack Christkindlmarkt.

LAKE GEORGE — The Lake George Joint Occupancy Tax Committee is awarding nearly $158,000 to 27 organizations for various events.

Village Mayor Robert Blais said the joint village and town committee received 36 applicants and $380,000 worth of requests.

The committee had $150,000 from county occupancy tax money, which Blais said was less than last year, and $8,200 in unspent money from 2018.

The committee had a smaller pot of money to give out than last year and, after making the initial requests, had to trim everybody by 10 percent.

“We didn’t have enough money to go around,” he said.

Blais added that any group that received money from the county Occupancy Tax Committee did not receive funding.

The biggest awards of $18,000 each went to the Lake George Regional Chamber of Commerce and Convention Visitors Bureau for its second annual Adirondack Christkindlmarkt holiday market festival and two $18,000 awards to Improv Records for the Adirondack Independence Music Festival and another concert to be determined.

The Lake George Jazz Weekend received $16,450. Five events got $9,000: the ADK Clam Jam; Barbershop Contest; Hemmings Motor News 13th annual Concours d’Elegance; Lake George Triathlon Weekend; and the Lake George Jazz Weekend.
