Hundreds lose power in Argyle after transformer explosion

ARGYLE | A transformer explosion on a utility pole on Route 40 knocked out power to several hundred Argyle residents for hours Monday.

The explosion happened around 10 a.m., near Sweet Road. A utility pole was heavily damaged by the transformer problem, and a stretch of Route 40 was closed for at least 6 hours.

National Grid's website showed 328 customers were affected, and restoration was expected by 4:15 p.m.
