The Fund for Lake George and the Hague Water Quality Awareness Committee are co-sponsoring an event Thursday evening, featuring speakers and presentations on the current state of and protective measures for Lake George.
Doors open for "The State/Fate of the Lake" event at 7 p.m. at the Hague Community Center, with experts on hand to answer questions. Presentations begin at 7:30 p.m. and address the three biggest challenges facing the lake.
Lake George Park Commission Executive Director Dave Wick will speak about efforts to control and prevent aquatic invasive species. Jim Sutherland, research scientist and Fund consultant, considered the “Father of Lake George hydrology,” will speak about rising salt levels. Lake George Waterkeeper Chris Navitsky will speak about water clarity.
After the presentations, the speakers will be available to discuss the issues. Refreshments will be provided at no charge.
