CORINTH — Rose A. Forte, 92, of LeMont Avenue, passed away Sunday, Jan. 6, 2019 at Albany Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on Dec. 22, 1926 in Schenectady, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Josephine (Fallone) Paniccia.
Rose attended Mont Pleasant High School in Schenectady.
She married Donald J. Forte on June 30, 1946 in Schenectady, and the couple resided in Corinth for many years. He passed away Nov. 26, 1995 following 49 years of marriage.
Rose was first employed at GE in Schenectady during WWII as a clerical worker. She then worked at International Paper Co. and at the Cluett-Peabody Shirt Factory in Corinth.
She was a longtime communicant of the Church of the Immaculate Conception/Holy Mother and Child Parish of Corinth.
Rose enjoyed painting, crocheting, knitting and traveling with her husband for several years, especially to Florida. Most memorable were the two cross-country trips they made together.
Above all, Rose enjoyed spending time with her family and extended family celebrating life over good food and great conversation. Her home was always open to all, both friends and family equally. She also enjoyed snuggling with her cat, Rumbles, and watching her “stories.”
Besides her husband and her parents, she was also predeceased by one brother, Benjamin Paniccia.
Survivors include three children, Linda Smith (Dale) of Riverton, Connecticut, Donna Strigler (Tony Prokopowicz) of Carmel, and Frank Forte (Carol) of LaFayette; four grandchildren, Sara M. Conklin (Don) of Corinth, Michael Forte of Cary, North Carolina, and David Forte and Robert Forte, both of Rochester; two great-grandchildren, Chase and Donovan Conklin of Corinth; one sister, Catherine Costa of Glenville; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
“I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” (Maya Angelou). Rose made us feel alive and happy. We will never forget how she made us feel and she will be greatly missed.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, at Holy Mother and Child Parish, 405 Palmer Avenue, Corinth, with Rev. Kenneth Swain, officiating.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11, at Densmore Funeral Home, Inc., 7 Sherman Ave., Corinth.
Spring burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Corinth.
The family wishes to thank the staff of the Neurosurgical Dept., the Acute Rehab, and the Surgical ICU at Albany Medical Center for their kind and compassionate care given to Rose during her time there.
