WILTON — A 20-year-old from Gansevoort and his parents have been charged in connection with an underage drinking party at their home on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day, according to police.
James J. Motto Jr., 20, allegedly had friends over for the gathering at his family's home on Cherry Tree Lane, according to the Saratoga County Sheriff's Office. Police determined teens as young as 17 were present.
Police were called to the home early Jan. 1 for a report of underage drinking, but police found no evidence of a party and Motto's parents allegedly told police there was no gathering there. But the Sheriff's Office continued to investigate and confirmed there was underage drinking and charged Motto as well as his parents, police said in a news release.
Motto, his father James J. Motto Sr., 49, and mother, Suzanne L. Motto, 44, were each charged with nine misdemeanor counts of unlawfully dealing with a child for allegedly providing alcohol to underage people, and a single count of misdemeanor conspiracy as well, authorities said.
All three were released, pending prosecution in Wilton Town Court.
