GLENS FALLS -- The Orleans Trio concert, originally scheduled for Sept. 1 at the Charles R. Wood Theater in Glens Falls, has been canceled because of the death of lead singer Larry Hoppen, the theater announced Thursday.

Ticket holders for the concert may contact the Wood Theater box office at 874-0800 to arrange refunds.

Hoppen, 61, died Tuesday, according to a press release.

He was one of the founding members of Orleans, the band that made songs such as “Dance With Me” and “Still the One” popular in the 1970s and ‘80s.

Hoppen had been touring, along with Lance Hoppen and Dennis “Fly” Amero, with the group Orleans Trio, which performed acoustic versions of Orleans hits and other songs.

Hoppen’s family suggested that fans wishing to honor his life contribute to local food pantries.
