Departing Senator Kathy Marchione, R-Halfmoon, endorsed Republican Daphne Jordan on Thursday. Jordan is running for Marchione's state 43rd Senate District seat.

Jordan is Marchione’s legislative director and Senate local government committee director.

Marchione’s endorsement stressed the need for checks and balances that she said Jordan will bring to state government.

“In Daphne Jordan, voters have a terrific opportunity to elect someone who will be a strong voice for upstate and continue my focus of getting real results for families and small businesses across the 43rd Senate District,” Marchione wrote. “I have supported Daphne’s Senate candidacy from the very beginning because she has the work ethic, commitment and dedication to public service, and important experience from her time as a small businesswoman, and having served as my legislative director for six years.”

Jordan is running against Democrat Aaron Gladd.

Election Day is Nov. 6. The 43rd Senate District covers a region from South Glens Falls to Saratoga Springs and farther south to Hudson. The district runs east of the cities of Albany and Troy.
