GLENS FALLS — Progressive advocates will hold a demonstration outside U.S. Rep. Elise Stefanik’s Glens Falls office on Thursday as the new Congress convenes.

Saratoga Progressive Action and other Indivisible groups and constituents will gather at 12:30 p.m. at 136 Glen St.

The groups are calling on Stefanik to support a funding bill that would reopen the government and not fund a border wall and to support the Democracy Reform bill that Democrats are expected to introduce that day.

The reform bill would remove obstacles to voting, take on the corruption of money in politics and create ethics rules to stop self-dealing and conflicts of interest, according to a news release. The reform agenda includes automatic voter registration and a system of public campaign financing for small donors, according to the website of Brennan Center for Justice, a progressive think tank.

This demonstration is part of the “Who’s House? Our House!” events taking place throughout the country.
