A 16-year-old teen from Jackson faces numerous charges after he allegedly stole a vehicle from a parking lot Monday night and crashed it, police said.
The young man, whose name was not released because of his age, was arrested Wednesday in connection with the theft of the vehicle from a parking lot on Broad Street, according to Cambridge-Greenwich Police.
He then used it to pick up his girlfriend in Shushan, then drove around the region to Hoosick Falls, police said. He crashed it into a utility pole, but was able to drive it back to Cambridge despite severe damage to a front wheel, and abandoned it on Eagleville Road, police said.
Police were able to link him to the case, and filed unspecified charges. He was released pending prosecution in Cambridge Court, and will likely face charges in other jurisdictions as well.
Cambridge-Greenwich Police Chief Robert Danko and members of the Washington County Sheriff's Office and Hoosick Falls Police Department handled the case.
